Guyanese constrictor

There is a lot of debate between keepers if the Guyana boas are any different from Suriname.  The important thing to remember here is that country of origin really does not play into locale at all.  Under a true definition a locale specific boa's exact location of origin would be known.  Since Boas can not simply be caught by the enthusiast who wishes to own one and brought back home to the U.S., we typically refer to geographic regions to define locales.  A great example is within the Mexican boas, you have Cancun, Sonoran, Tarahumara Mt., and many others.  These are specific locales of Mexican boas.  The Guyana Shield region of Suriname, Guyana, and French Guiana is home to BCC of very similar resemblance throughout.  However there are distinct features and characteristics that set each boa apart from another.  In Guyana those boas found close to the river that borders Suriname the boas would be very similar to those found on the opposite bank.  This occurs because it is the same geographic region regardless of political borders.  While the Boas found in the middle of the country in a secluded valley would likely be very different from those in surrounding areas.  One problem that has led to the purity debate of many boas from these regions is that currently only Suriname is open for export.  So you have boas found in Guyana and Northern Brazil that are captured and smuggled into Suriname so that they may be sold and exported.  Then of course the importer in Miami doesn't care where the boa came from originally, either they call them all Suriname boas because that's where the shipment came from, or they break them down into Suris, Guyanan, and N. Brazilian based on different looks.  If you are looking for pure locales of any boa constrictor the search will not be so easy.  But if you are not concerned with specifics and want a "Guyana" Boa, they are fairly easy to find.
